NAVIN SARVA VIDYALAYA

Navin Sarva Vidyalaya, a higher secondary school, was established by Sheth Shree Manchanddas Kuberdas Patel in the memory of his father Shree Kuberdas Patel in the early 1940s. Shree Manchanddas, a native son and a very successful businessman based in Bombay (now Mumbai), had built a large Boarding House named Kuber Vadi for orphans.

This building was designed and constructed under the able supervision of the master builder Shree Purushottamdas Harikaran Suthar. When Shree Manchanddas decided to convert it into a school he naturally handed over the responsibility to Shree Purushottamdas.

The school was initially started with just one class, but in a course of about ten years both these men made it into a full-fledged high-school. A separate boarding house building too was constructed. The most unique thing about the entire project was that it was financed by Shree Manchanddas alone.

In the mid-fifties both these men died within a span of just two years. But before that they had the foresight to handover its management to a local committee headed by Shree Sukhrambhai Bechardas Patel. It was under his stewardship that the school was elevated to the status of a higher secondary school and more construction was done to accommodate the expanded number of students. Today it is a preferred school for the Science Stream students.

In the course of its existence the school has produced a number of outstanding students. Many of these have become eminent persons in the fields of education, engineering, medicine, business, management, politics, social work, and culture.
